Located at 129 East 8th Avenue, Colourstrings Conservatory of Music is an innovative, child-centred approach to music education from Finland that combines the best of all music-learning methods; Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze.
Children 0-8 years embark on musical adventures that can take them from the earliest playful experiences through to music literacy and seamlessly onto instrumental lessons 5 years and up!
Colourstrings enables all children to become confident, creative, musically literate individuals with the skills to develop a social, emotional and artistic relationship with music for life.
Owner and Director, Laura Hasthorpe, is a professional violist and musical entrepreneur, the first early childhood specialist to bring the Colourstrings music education to Canada in 2004.
After setting up her own Kodaly based school The Colourstrings Conservatory of Music in 2004, Laura set up the highly successful Colourstrings program at the VSO school of music in 2011.
