Midstate Select is a collection of musicians with both new and familiar faces based out of State College, PA. While the search for their sound is a never ending one, their music has a rootsy quality that may or may not get much smoother than the finest bottom-shelf liquor that the name conjures up— but we like it that way. The group began as a side project for up-and-coming local musicians Anna Pearl Belinda (vocals), Sean Heffernan (guitar), and Sam Milz (guitar/vocals). Once the trio’s unique chemistry was initially established, it seemed only natural that the next step was to collaborate in the songwriting process. The group enlisted the tremendous talents of veteran musician Andy Tolins of the Triple A Blues Band and Sam Christensen. These additions would prove crucial to the production of the Midstate Select’s debut album and serve to round out the sound therein with further contributions from members of Triple A to help round things out.
