Wild Irish Fiddle takes traditional tunes in new directions, bringing the community together in dance and merriment, celebrating our shared humanity. The show is mostly fiddle, and it also includes fabulous guitar accompaniment and Irish whistle, mandolin, foot percussion, frame drum, and spoons, along with song, dance, poetry recitation, story, and most of all inclusive fun that weaves the community together.
Kate Rose learned a rooted, earthy, living tradition of fiddle-playing from farmers on the west coast of Ireland, gathering tunes and stories from the older generation in the 1990s. Believing that all our roots connect when we go deeply, she journeys into vibrant, complex, and universal experiences through melody. Kate plays every Thursday at Charly's in Flagstaff, AZ's historic Weatherford Hotel, in addition to teaching, leading workshops, and directing the nonprofit Wild Steps.
