Cactus Blanket: The Archival Project
This channel documents a decades-old musical salvage operation.
Between 1994 and 1999, pop-punk group Cactus Blanket (Sapporo, Japan) captured hundreds of hours of sessions & shows on analog tape, which were promptly abandoned to 30 years of obscurity. For better or for worse, the entire catalogue is now being meticulously digitized & restored. Against all logic & better judgement, the music is re-emerging.
The archive contains 40 previously unreleased songs which will be synced with rare archival camcorder footage.
Note: What started as a small passion project has taken on a more significant scope than anticipated. The restoration is slotted in between the very punk activities of shipbuilding, ship repair, putting food on the table and managing knee pain. It is worth it, though, to preserve and maintain this not insignificant body of work.
