The Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival is an international music festival now in its 36th year.
After a series of regular meetings and preparations until 1990, the first Daegu Contemporary Music Festival was held in 1991, marking the beginning of its full-scale activities. (In 2001, the festival officially changed its name to the Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival.)
With 36 years of history, the Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival has now firmly established its foundation and enjoys significant recognition, particularly among composition departments at universities across the country. This awareness has been fostered through active promotion among composer associations and universities, as well as through media outlets including newspapers, music journals, broadcasting stations, and the internet. In addition, annual winter seminars are held to prepare for the following year’s festival.
