Rongali Bihu is the festival that refers to the onset of the Assamese New Year, its the advent of seeding time. At this time of the year, Assam's valleys become vibrant, colourful and the air is filled with the sweet fragrance of exotic spring flowers & also the skies are filled with joyous songs of migratory birds. During Rongali Bihu, ladies are busy weaving Gamosas and Mekhela Chadors they also make different types of traditional snacks called ‘Pithas’. Sepon is a small commercial town in Assam bordering Charaideu, Shivsagar and Dibrugarh districts. Carrying the unique signature of the glorious six hundred year-old Ahom dynasty, 'Sepon' is a name that gradually evolved from a bustling city to a prosperous area. The name implies a strong emotional solidarity of the people, irrespective of caste, creed, cultural chain and a geographically constricted structure. The contribution of the Sepon Rongali Bihu to the growth of this form, this chain, this solidarity is undeniable.
