What I do is the convergence of mathematics, aesthetics, craftsmanship, and love of drumming. I am an electrical engineer and over the course of my career I solved many complex problems, saved lives, and earned over 100 patents worldwide. On the weekends, I donned my superhero costume to rescue kittens stuck up in trees and help little kids tie their shoelaces. Ahem. Actually, I am also a drummer and drum maker. I use the combination of my engineering skills and drumming experience to refurbish, convert, and upgrade old drums; to rescue and restore fine vintage drums; and to design and build entirely new snare drums. I have also developed a high-tech drum test lab - with that lab I can show how snare drums really work and bust some myths about drum design and behavior. I do the math so you don't have to! I make gorgeous-looking drums, but my guiding principle is always about how the drum sounds and how it feels to play - the drum *must* be a superb musical instrument.
