FERNS are a nu-jazz quintet. Their idiosyncratic take on the genre blends elements of post-rock, shoegaze, jazz and hiphop for a sound that alternates between extremes of order and chaos, darkness and light, the mosh pit and the ice pack.
The band consists of Dan (guitar), TopiK (drums), Matt (bass), Liam (saxophone) and Thijs (keyboard and synths). A blend of cultures as much as genres, these members came to Scotland’s capital from homelands as diverse as Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands, and Livingston.
