Lylajean is an independent band from Chicago known for their dream-inspired pop music and experimental style. Lylajean began as a solo project by vocalist/guitarist Lyla (full first name Lylajean--one word!), who started releasing music in 2019 at age 17. After releasing six self-produced albums, Lyla first performed her songs in a band with drummer/producer Anthan and guitarist Ryan as a separate project, Lylajean and Who We Are, through 2024. The project Lylajean itself officially evolved into a band in 2025 with additional members Val (bass, vocals), Jonathan (guitar, vocals), and Vanessa (drums). Their music explores a variety of genres, ranging from Kate Bush and Björk-influenced art pop, to Nick Drake-inspired indie folk. Lyla’s most popular project, Sleep Through the Quiet Lust (2022), is a concept album lyrically and musically inspired by dreams.
