I found pirate radio when I was 14 in 1988. I used to listen to Fantasy, Chillin and Pulse, then in 1992 I discovered Kool FM. Kool first broadcast on 28th November 1991 on the frequency of 94.5FM, from Hackney London. There was something about Kool that seemed different, it was more organised, more professional. This explains why they remained at the top of jungle drum n bass pirate radio for all these years. I quickly became addicted to recording the shows, they were happening live there and then and I just knew I needed to record. Back then I didn’t know how big Kool would become or how many thousands of recordings I would end up with.
