In December of 1986, I had a great idea. I secretly rounded up all the tape decks in our house...three in total...and found three usable cassette tapes. This was no easy feat in our household when I was 12 as I wasn't supposed to be running off with my parents' things. But I had a very good reason for subverting our family rules and norms. A brilliant reason! I promptly recorded two different nonsense vocal parts, improvised for about half a minute each. Then, pressing record on the third tape recorder while simultaneously pressing play on the other two, I sang along as I, for the first time ever, recorded three voices at the same time. I've been improving my method of writing and recording ever since...which has led me on one hell of a journey...and, yes, I've recorded a lot of it.
