As a widow of a boat captain, I plan to carry out our retirement dream by navigating The Great Loop. I have purchased a small boat, a 1997 26’ Nordic Tug. Her name is Sweets, a name that my husband Scott and I called each other. The plan is to do the trip in two years, leaving the boat somewhere up north when the weather turns cold.
On this trip I will be bringing our two 17 year old cats, Totch and Elsa. I hope to have family and friends join me in the trip along the way. I imagine there will be many times that I will have to single handedly manage the boat. Scott’s sister Bette and her husband Ron have a trawler and will also be doing the Loop. Though it may be considered a little boat by many, to me it is a challenge to operate her as I truly have little experience driving and docking a boat, I am a better deck hand than captain.
On April 16th I started out from Marco Island FL. And so the adventure begins...
