The Stratford Symphony Orchestra was founded as the Stratford Civic Orchestra in 2004 by educator and arts manager Yootha Neller, whose goal was to establish a fine orchestra to present excellent performances with a broad stylistic range. In 2009, the orchestra changed its name to the Stratford Symphony Orchestra (SSO) to reflect its growing reputation for musical excellence. SSO draws musicians from throughout southern Ontario, home to many musicians, actors and other artists.
Under the leadership of Principal Conductor and Music Director William Rowson, the 2020-21 season offers SSO To Go, a new series of premium digital concerts for our dedicated audience. Featuring members of the SSO in chamber ensemble performances, and captured by award-winning film producers Ballinran Entertainment, each SSO To Go instalment explores an interesting theme through music, illustrative commentary, insightful interviews, and bonus content.
