"Comin' at ya from somewhere deep in the heart of the Quad Cities, it's ZTV!" Those words were heard up to three nights weekly from the summer of 1992 through the summer of 1994 on Cable Access broadcasts originating from Davenport, Iowa and broadcast through the Quad Cities of Davenport & Bettendorf, Iowa x Moline & Rock Island, Illinois. Decades before there was YouTube... TikTok, Instagram, and the kids interviewing bands and being social superstars, there was ZTV! Created, written, produced, directed, and edited on VHS and Betacam by 15-year-old Jim Zahn, this visual oddity featured sketch comedy, entertainment news, music, and more. The series, which ran for more than 40, independently-produced episodes, featured guest stars including Faith No More, Stone Temple Pilots, Megadeth, White Zombie, and others. Its host grew up to become James Zahn aka The Rock Father, a multi-hyphenate with more than 30 years of experience across entertainment, publishing, retail, and business.
