The atmospheric music of Melbourne-based act A Man Called Son is grounded in a particular brand of Australian isolationism, evoking long summer days and smalltown tales of misfortune. Meds is the first taster of the forthcoming (and
fifth) a man called son album AutoTraumatic. An ambitious conceptual work dealing with an all-too human struggle against extreme adversity, from compromised health, to mental decline, to insomnia, paranoia and back again, AutoTraumatic will see release in early 2025. In the meantime; Meds is a spiky and spooky offering, reminiscent of 80s US and British
college alternative rock bands, while having its feet firmly planted in the present. It is a song which stays with the listener long after the final notes ring in their ears. Meds will be launched Sunday 06/10 at Retreat Hotel in Brunswick, in a rare full-band appearance.
