Founded in 2013, Novum Dance Collective (formerly Nozama) is a contemporary dance company dedicated to exploring and celebrating human identity through movement. Led by Artistic Director Dana Alsamsam, Novum’s work engages with themes of identity, gender, and power, particularly focusing on the women’s and queer experiences. Our performances, known for their raw emotional intensity and technical innovation, aim to resonate, challenge perceptions, and inspire social change. After over a decade of work, Novum produces two major concerts each year, alongside participation in local festivals like NACHMO, Boston WiP, and the Dance for World Community Festival. Our dancers are given opportunities to grow as choreographers, teachers, and leaders, contributing to a vibrant and supportive artistic community. At the heart of Novum is a commitment to creating impactful work that is more than just movement—it’s about the stories we tell, the conversations we start, and the communities we build.
