ABOUT THE POET The American lyric poet Joseph Charles MacKenzie is the Winner of the 2020 Society of Classical Poets Competition as well as the only American to have won the Scottish International Open Poetry Competition. The author of "Sonnets for Christ the King" and, more recently, the "Sonnets for the Queen of Heaven," MacKenzie is considered one of the foremost sacred poets of the age. His uncompromising fidelity to English tradition gives his work a beauty and timelessness in contrast with the failed modernism of the past century. MacKenzie's current work in progress is a collection of love poems inspired by his beautiful wife Elizabeth.
