Nova Sambou is a young talented artist and producer born and raised in Churchill's town The Gambia. He is Gambia's best R&B singer and started his music career in early 2007 with his first single "Big Belly Man", which unexpectedly became the hit single for 2007. Nova created a new genre of music which calls Afro Wave. It combines a rhythmic urban flow of the culture of The Gambia and the young and new generation in the international music market. The name afro wave signifies the afro-centric music blend of the world. This unique sound is a base for all musical styles and categories of modern music. The sound is strictly Gambian and identical to the culture of the smiling coast of Africa. The intention for Nova to create this Afro Wave beat was that, when you hear the name Reggae music, what comes to your mind is Jamaica. And when you hear the name Hip hop and R&B music, what comes to your mind are the USA. And now when you hear Afro Wave you know it is from The Gambia, from Africa.
