Six Degree Singers is a vibrant community of young professionals dedicated to making quality music and bringing it to the Washington, D.C.-area through performances, volunteer work, and musical education. Started in 2009 by Dr. Rachel Carlson, the ensemble performs a wide range of musical genres from renaissance and classical to jazz, folk, and contemporary.
Six Degree Singers has sung at venues throughout the D.C.-metro area, including the White House, the Folger Shakespeare Library, and a performance of the National Anthem for the Washington Nationals. We proudly commission and premiere works from up-and-coming and local composers, and collaborate with other music groups, such the Penn State Glee Club, the Teatro Lirico opera company, and the Washington Master Chorale on performances that feature the musical abilities of SDS and its members.
