The Davenport Pops Orchestra- affectionately known as "DPops"- is the only pops orchestra at Yale. The orchestra has continued to expand since its inception in 2005, and it anticipates an exciting and dynamic 2023-2024 concert season. Entirely student-run, the Davenport Pops Orchestra engages students not only as orchestra players but also as conductors, administrators, and much more. Although supported by Davenport College, the orchestra welcomes members from all Yale undergraduate colleges as well as graduate schools.
DPops pursues a diverse repertoire including film scores, musical medleys, television themes, student compositions, rocks songs, and hip-hop charts. Input from orchestra members guides the set list for each concert, and all members are encouraged to share their thoughts. DPops embraces experimental, alternative, and other creative ideas!
