"DoxieMom" came about back when Tai Shan (National Zoo) & Su Lin (San Diego Zoo) were born in 2005. My husband saw a link for the Zoos' Panda Cams in his IT magazines, and knowing I loved bears, shared the links with me. But because we lived in rural Oklahoma, had dinky internet connection, and only had 1 computer tucked into a back office, I lost that connection to the cubs and their mothers. I had minimal internet knowledge then, knew no one at either Zoo, and did not know about Flickr or other online groups. I discovered in 2008 how to record footage, and later taught myself how to edit/post the footage, (it really helps that my husband is an IT professional) ... and voila! DoxieMom was born! I first posted my YouTube video links on the San Diego Zoo blogs as well as Hancock Wildlife Bear forums, and later on Flickr, and eventually FaceBook. I never wanted anyone else to lose that connection to their bear!  I am not affiliated with any of the US Zoo's that have Giant Pandas.
