Aymergen is a multidisciplinary jazz musician with a deep interest in African, Turkish, Indian, and electronic music. His musical journey began with a classical guitar repertoire, followed by two years of classical flamenco studies. After transitioning to the electric guitar, he explored various musical genres, gradually developing a strong inclination toward jazz. Over the years, he has conducted extensive research on Indian and African music and rhythms.
His original thesis on Maqam Harmony introduced a novel approach to accompaniment in Turkish maqam music, offering a fresh perspective on harmonic structures and progressions in traditional music. Through this work, he has been able to analyze and define harmonic principles across various traditional musical forms.
Currently, Aymergen serves as a jazz guitar professor at Hacettepe University State Conservatory while continuing his artistic productions.
