Matt Gilling – Composer | New Zealand (Aotearoa)
I’m a New Zealand (Kiwi) composer writing music because I enjoy the process and the result. Most of what you’ll find here sits in the modern classical space, with some songs and side-paths that don’t fit neatly into a category. Tonality is optional.
The music ranges from quite beautiful to barely listenable!
Instruments include piano, guitar, rhythm & MIDI.
Just as music theory wasn't a process of discovering rules but rather the revealing of principles and truths, so I believe writing music is about uncovering and discovering where the music wants to go. There's often the perfect next note waiting to be uncovered.
I do impromptu pieces that I try to upload as SHORTS and polished works as VIDEOS.
If you’d like to use the music for a project, performance, or something else, feel free to get in touch.
