William Varney Music is a channel that showcases my original music. I have been a songwriter since I was about fifteen and got my first guitar for Christmas. My father was a poet so I was raised around the rhythm of the spoken word. Unfortunately, he passed away when I was thirteen so he never really got to see how his influence of the written line flourished in me. I am always thankful for his love and influence.
What influences and inspires me to write songs are all the great musicians and music groups of my youth. The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Roy Orbison as well as anything Motown, or the Psychedelic San Francisco sound really knocked my socks off! I consider myself lucky to have grown up in the era of Woodstock and beyond. I make no apologies if my songs sound similar to the great bands that came before me because I love those SOUNDS!
