Elderly at my church say I’ve been given a gift— a gift is just that, something you don’t earn but receive. So, in the first person it's nothing that I claim, although I do.... A top NZ player once said I'm a “natural,” though not directly to me, but I’m far from the best in NZ! Dad & I often played Dutch Draughts, but its limitations led me to chess, So, dad is my ultimate connection to the game. At around 12, I joined The Otago Chess Club, fully expecting to be Champion the moment I walked in ~ Nope! Highlights- 1981 NZ Junior 3rd= 1989 NZ Lightning Champion 1989 North Island Champs 1st= (Sponsored and below) Played in Australian Open 1990/92 2018 Canterbury Blitz #1 Public simultaneous displays Organized 2 social chess tournaments Channel Rule: What I like, when I like, as I like (Spurgeon). As a kid, I heard a similar saying at the dinner table in Dutch: "Eat what the pot provides." I aim to keep things clean and real, inspired by my Christian beliefs and my former chess coach.
