WHYTE infuse original and traditional Gaelic song with the newest techniques in electronica.
The duo comprises electronic composer, musician and Scottish Album of the Year-longlisted Ross Whyte (Aberdeenshire) and Gaelic singer, songwriter, twice-nominated Hands Up for Trad Gaelic Singer of the Year and Scottish Government Gaelic Ambassador of the Year 2019–20 Alasdair C. Whyte (Muile/Mull).
The band’s sound has been described as “important for Scottish music in general and Gaelic in particular” (Alun Woodward, Chemikal Underground Records), “achingly beautiful” (fRoots) and “moody and alluring” (Songlines).
WHYTE’s award-winning second album ‘Tairm’ (2019), described as “a thing of beauty” (Scots Whay Hae!), follows the success of the band’s debut album ‘Fairich’ (2016), described as “absorbing” (fRoots), “completely distinctive” (Bright Young Folk) and “cinematic” (Northern Sky).
WHYTE’s new album ‘Tairm’ is out now.
