After Hours Radio formed in 2014 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, honing their craft through regular performances in the local underground scene. Referring to a member's experience as a late-night radio DJ, the band's name encapsulates an unrestricted songwriting approach. They have been featured in New Noise Magazine, Ghettoblaster Magazine, NewsWhistle, MxDwn, Impose, Midwest Record, The Vinyl District, Current Magazine and Chevy Detroit among other publications.
AHR became known for an infectious blend of groovy riffs and alternative/indie music influenced by rock, funk, and reggae among other genres. Their self-titled debut EP and follow-up single employed this formula with introspective lyrical themes. AHR's final release, “What Happened?”, brought these musical elements in spades with lyrics that explore the difficulties of moving on and, slowly but surely, rebuilding.
