A border guard returns home after three years of military service. Finally, I'm home, but… everything has changed so much. After my discharge, I no longer have a house, only an empty plot of land. I don't know where my wife and children are. Family life is no longer the same; my wife has remarried, and I have to start over with my young son who suffers from kidney failure and rickets. On this journey, I will take my son with me, personally care for him, treat his illnesses, and find a piece of land to build a house, gradually building a new life.
With my meager post-discharge allowance, I managed to buy a plot of land and a house. Since then, I've renovated the abandoned house, cultivated crops, raised livestock, and sent my son back to school so he can catch up with his peers, building a simple, self-sufficient life in the rural North of Vietnam. From that beginning, and thanks to the perseverance and efforts of myself and my son, we hope that our new life will be fortunate and good
