Howard's Science Fiction Theater: Casinos in Space, a serialized novel about space cruising on a starship. I started writing this book in the 1990s because I liked the concept of traveling in a giant starship to distant planets. The plot evolved over the years, but was consummated in 1999 when a close friend, Bruce, died of a brain tumor. I suddenly had a purpose for the book, a solid direction. Writing helped me express my feelings about his death, and I had a better plot, not just casino gambling and the food, which is fun, but something to care about, and we see how Paul Erickson, brother of Daniel, dealt with his feelings. Some of the scenes, are memories of Bruce's struggle with cancer and how his brother, Eric, also a close friend, reacted. It was an awful time, especially when Bruce had surgery to remove one of the tumors, but that paralyzed him on one side. Hope you enjoy the book.
