Funded in 2020 by the Canadian Federal Government's Local Journalism Initiative (LJI), MBCNewsRadio hired Brandon White to cover civic issues, language, and culture. White is one of over 100 community-level journalists hired through the grant initiative. The community in which he operates is roughly 50% indigenous (Cree, Dene), and located in Northern Saskatchewan in the Boreal Forest on Treaty 6 Territory.
