The Aaron Ouellette Quintet, based out of Rochester, New York, and consisting of undergrad and grad students from the Eastman School of Music, is a contemporary jazz group that focuses on collaborative original music and unconventional arrangements, both in recording sessions and out in the local community. First assembled in the fall of 2022, the group consists of Aaron Ouellette (trumpet), Sarah Navratil (tenor saxophone), Timothy Ogunbiyi (piano), Ian Gleissner (bass), and Kevin Murphy (drums). Through their most recent projects, the Aaron Ouellette Quintet has made an effort to push the limits of both nostalgia and obscurity in their compositions, learning how these ideas can coexist and be incorporated into both writing and improvisation.
