The Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute (m.iti) is a non-profit innovation institute of the University of Madeira, founded by the University of Madeira, Madeira Tecnopolo, and Carnegie Mellon University. The institute was created in December 2009 in order to provide a home for the many collaborations between these partners, in both research and education. The work of the institute mainly concentrates on innovation in the areas of computer science, human-computer interaction, and entertainment technology. Since 2011, M-ITI is also part of LARSyS, an association of six R&D units based in four Portuguese Universities: Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, Universidade dos Açores and Universidade da Madeira, contributing to this association on several technology research areas.
