The year was 1992, a house almost opposite to the final resting place of the founder of Pakistan, saw the foundation of something amazing within its boundaries. The foundation of a musical sound that was unique in its own right and unheard of in Pakistan. The sound that one day became one of Pakistan’s first true indie rock bands.
The house was the residence of Overdrive’s amazingly talented guitarist AQ, where Overdrive jammed their musical abilities and creativity. It was a hub where all the pieces of the jigsaw fused together to create the classic rock tracks like Zameen, Zameen II and Pain.
Drummer Rowdy Farooqi’s explosive rhythms were grounded by Tabish Khan’s thumping bass, AQ’s killer guitar riffs were right in the middle backed by rhythm guitarist Sallu… and then there were the roaring vocals of Salman and Faisal to wrap it tight to an unmistakable sound of Overdrive.
Now after 23 years after recording their debut album Anarchist Growl, Overdrive are back.#TheBandsAreBack
