My channel is dedicated to posting old and rare live recordings of great barbershop quartets from the "Golden Era" of the art form - typically from the 1940s, 1950s, and early 1960s. A time when tenors were allowed to soar and basses were powerfully deep and resonant. I hope you enjoy them and contact me if YOU have any to share from that era!! Listen, if you will, to songs sung the way the composer(s) would've wanted them sung - from the heart and with the right timing, phrasing and "listenability". The recordings can be rough in spots, but then again, most were made with wire recorders or reel-to-reel machines placed on the stage or in the wings. Some were even recorded from the audience! I've had the privilege of meeting many of these wonderful guys that sang in these quartets when I was just a kid growing up in Ohio and later on in California. I still wish I would've been born earlier to experience them all in their heyday! ENJOY!
