"You had to grow up fast," Crown says of his childhood in Brooklyn, where he was raised just blocks away from the early homes of his heroes like the Notorious BIG, Big Daddy Kane, and Jay-Z. "I saw the drugs and the violence at a young age, and that really opened me up." With his debut album, 'All Rise,' Crown certainly reflects on where he grew up, but even more remarkably, where he's been since then. From a youth split between Brooklyn and Panama to living on Air Force bases around the world to tours of duty in Iraq to his rapid rise as an MC in California, Crown's experiences fuel an album that blends East and West Coast, hip-hop and funk, insightful lyrics and undeniable hooks. Recorded with his live band and production crew, The M.O.B.
