Rick taught himself to play the guitar shortly after his mother was diagnosed with cancer. He used his new skill to write her a song to express how much he loved her. That song, Now I Lay Her Down, went on to propel Rick to win many singing and songwriting awards. Born and raised in Kansas, he went on to sharpen his craft in Midwest bars and honky-tonks andopened for classic country stars like Tracy Byrd and Kevin Sharp. After taking some time to focus on his family, Rick is back on the country music scene.
