This is the Video Archive for Ecstatic Peace, a record label founded by Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore in 1981. The first releases were a spoken word cassette by Lydia Lunch and Michael Gira and a live mix collage document by a nascent Sonic Youth. Through the 80s/90s Thurston released over a hundred LPs, 7”s, 10”s and CDs by a diverse and personalized selection of new music artists In 2005 the label began recording and posting live performances on the label's website and continued for the next 4-5 years. Unfortunately, because many of these were shot on analog non/pre HD rigs, the quality is what the quality is. If you see the standardized white on black title card at the beginning and the Ecstatic Peace at the end, it was shot by Andrew Kesin. Other key contributors included John Moloney, Brendan Toller, Thurston Moore, Jef Mertens and Greg Eggebeen.
