Active from the 1990s onwards, RSOL (the 'Rectal Sound Of London') were described by one reviewer as "the Pet Shop Boys from Hell". . The duo of Nigel Arsehole and Paul Rectalsound hated the Queen Mother and were obsessed by anal sex. What they lacked in talent, they made up for in poetic obscenity, and were evidently way ahead of their time. (Could 'Blurred Lines' have been written without RSOL's 'I've Been Fucking Your Wife' beaconing the way?) . With influences as diverse as disco, punk, krautrock, and the whole techno/ambient scene (RSOL was clearly a skit on FSOL) the music ranges from riffs on a single sample to complete synthesised sound-worlds, all with twisted, hilarious, and sociopathically bloke-ish lyrics. . It's probably just as well that they lived in the UK, where access to automatic weapons is strictly prohibited. They got their hands on the next best thing for venting rage and angst - the recording studio.
