Multi-award-winning South African singer-songwriter Bongeziwe Mabandla is known for his deeply personal songwriting and distinctive voice, blending folk, soul and African musical traditions. Born in Tsolo in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, Mabandla began writing songs as a teenager before moving to Johannesburg to pursue music. Working closely with longtime producer Tiago Correia-Paulo, Mabandla has developed a sound that has helped define a growing Black Alternative scene emerging from Africa, alongside artists such as The Cavemen, Msaki, and Blick Bassy. A largely independent artist, Mabandla has built an international audience through extensive touring, performing sold-out headline shows across Europe, the United States and South Africa. He is a three-time winner of the South African Music Awards, and has also received a Metro FM Music Awards and a Feather Awards.
