The Sun Champs are a Pittsburgh-based funk rock band who formed in late 2017, and celebrated the release of their self-titled debut EP in June 2019. The band incorporates dirty blues-rock riffs, jazzy keyboards, guitar and saxophone mastery, Flea-like funky bass work, and latin/funk drumming to create a unique and indescribable sound, somewhere between the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ray Charles, Carlos Santana, and the Grateful Dead. Band members include Randall(lead vocals and guitar), Jordan(drums and vocals), Ryan(bass and vocals), Gerald(sax and accompaniments), and Mike(keys, guitar and vocals) and newest addition Al Rieber(aux percussion and vocals).
