Improbotics is a pioneering tech-infused improvised theatre and comedy show. Featuring artificial intelligence, virtual environments, and an international troupe of professional actors based in Antwerp, Edmonton, Montréal, London and Stockholm, we have been exploring the creative potential of technology for live improvised theatre since 2016. Over the course of nearly 200 shows, from Edinburgh Fringe to art museums, from international improv festivals to comedy clubs, we have featured a live Turing test with an actual artificial intelligence-based chatbot, robots, machine translation for multilingual improvisation and virtual immersive performance. Co-founded by Piotr Mirowski and Kory Mathewson and co-headed by Jenny Elfving (Stockholm) and Ben Verhoeven (Flanders), Improbotics is a community of nearly a hundred of creatives, improvisers, actors, technologists, researchers, lecturers, drama directors and science communicators.
