When I retired from my career in 2010 as a registered nurse, my 5 children were grown and had careers and children of their own. I had looked forward to “ retirement “ every day I got up early and went to the hospital to work. Not that I didn’t enjoy my career, because I did enjoy the feeling that I was helping others in their time of need. But I looked forward to doing what I wanted to do every day without a schedule. Soon after my last day at work, I was tired of cleaning closets, the dog only needed to walk 3-4 times a day, my income had decreased, and since I lived alone, I had to go to the grocery store or Walmart or plant nursery or church to see and talk to other people. Now that I will be 80 years old in 2025, I have learned lot about this journey of retirement and it is ever changing. So I hope to share things I’ve learned that makes my golden years of retirement more enjoyable, and I hope we can build a community and share with each other.
