Mainak Nag Chowdhury,also known as Bumpy , is known nationally and internationally, as a Bass Guitar Player, Music Composer-Arranger-Director-Producer.He has widely traveled with his own projects and also as a session-player with eminent artists and bands from India and abroad. His versatility with different genre, makes him one of the most sought after bass players from India. He has particularly made a mark with his ease in dealing with and adapting to Hindustani and Carnatic Classical idioms on a "western" instrument bass and his own creation "Maitrayee Bass" --a double neck bass with "Taraf" and "Chikari" resonating strings that facilitate a true representation of Indian Classical Music . As a result he is not only busy collaborating with some of the most eminent artists of the Indian Classical Scene, but also in breaking new grounds in the application of bass guitar in the Indian Classical context or in other forms of music-with jazz musicians internationally.
