Jacob Champlin & The Blue Jays is a 7 piece Indie Folk band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Front man Jacob Champlin (Previously of Cathy Crescendo) assembled a choice assortment of musicians from the Twin Cities, many of whom he had shared the stage with in years past. Besides the single member recruited from a Craigslist ad the other 6 members had made efforts to collaborate for years but not till now did their project take form. Their songs can perhaps best be described as existential folk hymns. They ring sincere with themes of seeking one’s self & waking up to a proposed higher consciousness. The song structures are loose & organic with several tracks not repeating even a single section. Their playful use of hooks & instrumentation however preserve a pop sensibility that serves their sound well. NEW ALBUM OUT SOON!!!
