Tim Crosby is a southern Illinois-based songwriter and performer in the Americana/Black Dirt genre. He released a CD titled "Resurrection Mule Farm" with his band, the Lightning Strikes, in 2017 and "Make Your Own Fun," a solo CD, in June 2020. His third record, "Always Rising," was released in August 2021 and was hailed as one of the finest records ever to come out of the region by local radio DJ Loy Addington.
Playing solo or with his trio, Crosby performs more than 100 shows a year at venues in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa and Kentucky, playing all original music that explores the trials and triumphs of everyday people. His influences include Steve Earle, Tom Petty, Todd Snider, John Prine, Chris Knight and others.
Born and raised in flatlands of Central Illinois near the agbusiness and industrial city of Decatur, Crosby has been writing songs and playing music most of his life. His common Midwestern upbringing are present in every gritty, sad uplifting or funny story his songs tell.
