Michael Cooper grew in Pasadena, California. At 3 years old he suffered a leg injury that doctor said he would not be able to walk again. He started playing basketball with the intention of getting an education, first at Pasadena City College, then at the University of New Mexico.
He was selected on the third round (60th pick) of the 1978 NBA Draft but in his first year he suffered an injury, sitting the whole season. The following season Magic Johnson arrived to the Lakers and Cooper contributed off the bench since day one.
Hard work, dedication and psychically gifted conditions, allow him to a successful 12-year career with the Showtime Lakers, winning 5 Championships, 1987 DPOY and making 8 Defensive Teams, an original 3&D player. After retiring he became a coach winning 2 titles with the LA Sparks of the WNBA.
