Welcome! I'm Mateo, a French saxophonist, arranger, and producer driven by a passion for exploring music across borders. My musical journey explores Brazilian, Cuban, African, and Afro-American traditions. Having lived in Barcelona, São Paulo, New Orleans and Cape Verde, I’ve had the chance to collaborate with extraordinary artists across a wide range of genres — including Jack Johnson, Ivan Neville, Lucrecia, Bigflo et Oli, and Tito Paris. As a touring member of the Playing For Change Band, I’ve performed around the world — from Japan to Australia, Brazil to the USA — sharing the stage with legends like Ellis Hall (Tower of Power), James Gadson, John Densmore (The Doors), Vasti Jackson, Keb’ Mo’, The Doobie Brothers, and Hisato “Char” Takenaka. Now based in Praia, Cape Verde, I've worked with renowned artists such as Tito Paris, Lucibela, Bulimundo, Assol Garcia, Albertino Évora, Kim and Kaku Alves, Manuel Di Candinho, Khaly Angel and Sauren Araujo.
