Bonjour! I’m Laurel, a Canadian who spent 30 years raising kids—two with autism—while running on coffee and the endless fight for care. Life was challenging and left little time for “normal” things. Now, in our quest for a better future for our children, we’ve returned to my husband's home country of France, where I’m now the foreigner in the marriage. I’m learning to function and thrive in French society and grow my language skills, while still managing the unique challenges of caring for a family member with disabilities. Our life isn’t fancy and it’s far from normal, but we’re grateful for this shot at a better life for all of us.
