Clea Anaïs’ compositions center on two things: their multifaceted artistic sensibility, and an emotional intelligence as sharp as a shard of bright-coloured crystal. A multi-ethnic artist, raised in Canada by a Mauritian dancer and a British painter, Clea Anaïs’ solo work grew from a drive for independent creative voice, a counterpoint to primarily collaborative projects as a session cellist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer. Clea Anaïs creates music that moves in interesting ways, and through this there are moments when she is vulnerable, and those moments move you because they are some special combo of being listenable, evoking memory, and feeling new.
