"Capt Clothears" was a nickname given to Ray Derrick who worked full time in the sound department at TCN Channel 9 Sydney from 1970 to 1985 and freelance until 1995. He was the senior Audio Director between 1997 and 1985 engineering the sound for the daytime Mike Walsh Show for eight years between 1997 and 1984 and the nighttime Mike Walsh Show in 1985, as well as many other major musical television specials and recordings. The videos on this channel were all recorded off air on a home VHS recorder by Ray's wife as the shows went to live to air, which is the reason that many of them are slightly clipped at the beginning and/or the end.
